Judging from his latest interview with German publication Focus, the Chanel creative director certainly seems to think she’s in need of one.
“Madame Merkel should have her clothes made to measure,” said Lagerfeld, who clearly hasn’t forgotten about the disastrous trousers Merkel wore when welcoming US President Barack Obama to Berlin back in June.

“The proportions were bad, the cut likewise, and the trousers were too long,” added the designer, and for once (see the photo above), we’re inclined to agree.
This is after all, the man who said Pippa Middleton “should only show her back” and singer Adele, “a little too fat”. In fact his quotes have inspired a book soon to be published by Thames & Hudson – The World According to Karl.

However as far as Mr Lagerfeld has heard, his native country’s chancellor isn’t seeking any fashion advice.
“She has scarcely any time to come to Paris, and when she is in Paris to visit President Holland she is very busy.”
Well, that’s understandable.
Thank God we’re out of view of Kaiser Karl’s critical gaze.
