CANALI (above)
What they said “Designed for a multi-faceted man of the world.”
What we think “Stripes, polka-dots, plus poppy colours and plenty of peak lapels in pastel caught the eye at Canali. Silk piquet polos, some mermaid pattern trousers and two-toned loafers added more look-at-me vim to this company’s core USP of top-notch conventional tailoring.”

ZEGNA (above left)
What they said ” Traditional tailoring translated.”
What we think “Zegna’s new designer Stefano Pilati has serious fashion chops. The former Prada and Yves Saint Laurent man’s sliver-sliced notch lapels, loose, almost drop-waist, jacket shape and knitwear-as-cuffs were a confident start to his Zegna tenure.”

GIORGIO ARMANI (above right)
What they said “Combines the finest materials with sporty details.
What we think “Armani still makes a mean jacket, and there were plenty of navy, grey and occasional stand-out scarlet examples here. Oil-print T-shirts, grid-check knitwear, softened leather coats and all-white evening suits completed the show.”

DOLCE & GABBANA (above left)
What they said “Creativity and tailoring are the cornerstones.”
What we think “A streaker on the catwalk and a high-profile tax dispute off it – this hasn’t been an easy week for Dolce & Gabbana. So they retreated 2,000 years with prints of ancient Sicilian temples, coins and Greek gods, as well as plenty of stretch-to-fit tailoring.”

PRADA (above right)
What they said “A collection of abstract and graphic motives.”
What we said “Loose trousers and tropical print tops – plus a hibiscus suitcase — gave next summer’s Prada collection a South Pacific meets Magnum P.I. feel. Boxing shorts, sunset-print blousons and bright galoshes completed the conceptual kitsch.”
