The star wants a professional in
Selena Gomez fired her parents as her managers last week, according to reports.
And it seems the news was as much of a shock to them as it was to us.
TMZ reports Mandy Teefey and the singer’s step-father Brian – who have represented the star since her rise to fame in 2007 – didn’t know their daughter was serious about recruiting someone else.
The 21-year-old reportedly decided last month to replace them with a professional, and the pair only realised it was real when the news broke.
Mandy told TMZ she thought their conversation in March was "just talk" and they sat down again after the news broke to ensure she was "absolutely sure" she wanted to seek new guidance, and the former Disney star reportedly said yes.
The showbiz matriarch insists she respects her daughter’s decision and plans to continue producing several projects with her, including the upcoming movie The Sky Is Everywhere.
It was claimed that the Spring Breakers star decided to end their professional relationship as she felt she had "outgrown" her parents.
The pair had been Selena’s managers for years
But despite arguing in the past with both of them, especially over ex Justin Bieber , the site reports that is not the reason for the split.
If we can call it that.
The trio are reportedly still close, but Mandy is said to be unhappy about the decision.
Mandy and Brian reportedly made it clear last month that they were unhappy about her relationship with the Biebs, who has had a number of run-ins with the law, as they believe he’s responsible for driving her to rehab in January.
A source told the site previously: "They’re doing their best to supervise them. They’re tolerating it as long as they know that there is someone who has eyes on them all the time."
