Shard up: Will.i.am
You know how it is, you fancy moving to London but can’t quite afford the £50m cost of the gaff you fancy and your job as a music judge , singer and record producer doesn’t quite pay enough.
We’ve all been there.
So pity poor Will.i.am whose salary he gets for sitting next to Tom Jones and telling fledgling singers how fresh they are doesn’t cover the rent on one of London’s most impressive skyscrapers.
Will, 40, says he wants to become an adopted Brit.
He told The Sun: "I want to become a proper Brit. I have been coming here for years and I just like it. it feels like home."
But he has no plans to get a bedsit in the Big Smoke, the rapper has his eyes on the Shard.

He said: "I want to live in the Shard but it is expensive and this show doesn’t really pay the bill but I’ll figure it out."
And he told the Evening Standard: “Dude, I want to be a citizen and have a London passport. London is the centre of the world.
He added: “The Shard is expensive and they don’t pay that much at the BBC so I’ll stay in someone’s yard instead of the Shard.”
One of Will’s projects in London is an eco venture.
