Joe Zee Joins Yahoo Fashion
After weeks of speculation it has been confirmed that Joe Zee will join Yahoo Fashion as editor-in-chief and executive creative officer. Zee will also act as an editor-at-large for Yahoo’s beauty site, headed up by Bobbi Brown. Zee said he joined the Internet company after realising he was being granted an opportunity to speak “to a really large audience, in a really chic way.” Zee will leave his role as creative director of Elle (US), where he has worked for seven years, in May. “There is nobody else like Joe — we’re never going to find another Joe. You don’t look to hire that exact same person again,” Robbie Myers, Elle‘s editor-in-chief, told press.
Marc Rosen Named Levi Strauss’ First President of Global E-Commerce
Marc Rosen has been named Levi Strauss’ first president of global e-commerce and an executive vice president at the company. “Our e-commerce business has experienced strong, double-digit growth in the past few years. Investing in e-commerce continues to be a top priority for LS&Co. because of the sizeable upside opportunity that exists,” said Levi’s chief executive and president Chip Bergh. “Marc’s track record of delivering industry-leading global e-commerce growth makes him the ideal leader to take our business to new levels of success,” he continued. Rosen was most recently senior vice president of global e-commerce at Wal-Mart Stores Inc.
John Brodie Appointed Editor of Mr Porter
Mr Porter has appointed John Brodie, a contributor since launch, to the role of editor-in-chief. “I consider myself very fortunate to be joining such a smart, creative and innovative team who together have redefined the way men shop, read and talk about style,” said Brodie in a statement. Brodie will divide his time between New York and London and lead Mr Porter’s team of editors from mid-May. “John, an industry leader, a deft editor and an experienced content creator with extraordinary relationships across the world, is absolutely the right man to be at the helm of our editorial team for this next exciting chapter in the life of Mr Porter,” said managing director Ian Tansley. Brodie has held staff positions at GQ, Best Life, Variety, SPY and Fortune.
Marissa Webb Named Creative Director of Banana Republic
Gap Inc has appointed Marissa Webb creative director of Banana Republic and taken a minority stake in the emerging designer’s eponymous ready-to-wear line. Webb worked for J. Crew for over a decade before founding her line in 2011. “[Webb] has a keen understanding of our heritage and all that makes us who we are, but at the same time a strong vision for how we can move forward to make BR even more relevant for today’s market — both our current customers and those we want to attract,” Jack Calhoun, president of Banana Republic, said in a statement. Webb replaces Simon Kneen and will start her role on April 28th.
Jean-Frederic Dufour to Become Rolex Chief Executive
Jean-Frederic Dufour has been named chief executive of Rolex, replacing Gian Riccardo Marin. Dufour currently heads up LVMH’s Zenith watch brand, where he became chief executive in 2009. During his tenure at Zenith, Dufour successfully restructured the company and improved sales by returning to classic designs. The executive has extensive experience in the watch industry, having held roles at Chopard, Swatch Group and Ulysse Nardin.
Vans Taps Fara Howard as Global Vice President of Marketing
Vans has named Fara Howard global vice president of marketing. Howard succeeds Doug Palladini, who was promoted to vice president and general manager of the Americas region last year. Howard joins the shoe and apparel company at a time of growth and will help the brand in its efforts to achieve a sales targets of $2.9 billion by 2o17. Previously, Howard held marketing roles at Dell and PepsiCo.
