It’s not every day you get to sit down and chat with one of your favorite makeup artists, so I was thrilled when I got the chance to talk with Gucci Westman, Global Artistic Director for Revlon. Westman is, to put it lightly, a Big Deal — she regularly creates makeup looks for rag & bone, Oscar de la Renta, and Marchesa, to name a few. During our chat, she shared her expert industry knowledge on her favorite lipstick, how to pull off the hottest beauty trends for the season, and what inspired her latest collection for Revlon, The Pacific Coast. Read on to see what this inspirational beauty expert had to say.
Your collection embodies surfer-girl chic. I love how effortless yet glamorous the feel is. Where did you get inspiration for this fresh-faced collection?
“I thought about the women of the ’50s and ’60s who never considered leaving home without a full face of makeup and modernized that. I wanted to make it about having color on, but still being active like going surfing. It was about combining a glamour girl with a sporty modern girl.”
I’m sure all the products in the collection feel like your babies, but if you had to choose, which one do you love most — and why?
“The Revlon Baby Stick™ for Lips & Cheeks in Pink Passion is my favorite of the three. I love them because they offer a great flush of color and are really easy to use, no mirror required. I’m also very partial to the new shades of Revlon ColorBurst™ Lip Butter — they are balmy, hydrating, and colorful. I realize you asked for just one, but it’s really hard to choose just one since I was so close to this collection. Even just now I thought about how much I love the Seashell shade of Revlon ColorStay™ LongWear Nail Enamel. It’s such a pretty blush color!”
Revlon ColorBurst™ Lip Butter, $6.49, available at Target.
Revlon ColorStay™ LongWear Nail Enamel, $8.25, available at Soap.com.
