In total teaser-trailer fashion, David Bowie posted on Facebook yesterday that he would reveal his newest video for “Valentines Day” later in the evening —7:30 p.m. GMT, to be exact. And since we were counting the minutes up until its release, you can imagine our dismay when we realised that Bowie did not deliver.

Of course, we should have been suspicious when the now-infamous Facebook post was deleted shortly after its appearance. The post read: “It’s happening today. It gives us much pleasure to be able to announce the release of the new video for David Bowie’s upcoming ‘Valentines Day’ single.” And yet, no matter how many times we refreshed, no matter how many Google searches we tried, the video does not exist.

Directed by Indrani and Marcus Klinko, who have previously worked with Bowie on artwork for the Heathen album, the “Valentines Day” video comes from Bowie’s latest album The Next Day. According to Digital Spy, the video will also be released as a 7″ picture disc on August 19 in the U.K.

We guess we understand. If Bowie’s previous videos are any indication, he probably just needed more time to incorporate a flight of fancy that’s as weird inspiring as his Jesus costume or Tilda Swinton’s cameo. We remain hopeful that the promise of fresh Bowie greatness will make its way onto the Internet soon. (Digital Spy)
