“Boom Boom Pow” by Black Eyed Peas

Who doesn’t love this song! It’s a funky futuristic mix that gets me pump  ed up in the morning – on the treadmill or en route through the neighborhood. You don’t have to go fast, you just have to go…

“No Diggity” (drum and bass mix) by Aphrodite

Music undoubtedly sets the mood. When I hear an energetic soundtrack, it gives me so much life. I have this song on repeat on my iPod workout playlist. It’s important to enjoy working out, and an upbeat song like this gets my heart racing and brings the gratification back into working out. It’s the one moment in my day where I can clear my mind and be in my zone.

“I’ve Got Five On It” by Aphrodite

I can do any workout, stretch, marathon to this track… I love the sound of the old school beat with a modern remix that builds my stamina to go the extra mile all day. With my busy schedule on the go, I don’t find the time to workout, I MAKE the time to workout.

It’s soft and tender, but builds up to a cool House music-inspired dance bridge.  Takes me right back to NYC in the 80s and 90s, while on the rowing machine.

“Glad You Came” by The Wanted

Although I am not a teen, surfing up and down the California coast, this song instantly transports me there.  Love to play it on the treadmill.

Dylan Lauren, Owner Dylans Candy Bar

“Firework” by Katie Perry
The message of this song is: you are capable of anything when you put your mind to it. Jumping rope garners great results, but it’s so boring and this song helps me get through it.

My favorite workout is spinning at Flywheel. When this song comes on, it gives me the energy to keep going and push through the pain!

“Superstar” by Lupe Fiasco

“Two Tongues” by Mariee Sioux
Doing oms is a big part of yoga but when I am alone in my house I love playing music I can sing along to as I do my asanas, and this is one of those songs. Singing or chanting words of poetry, mixed with breathing, while moving through my poses is an invigorating experience. Not only is my heart rate up but my soul soars.

When I get moving is when I get my best ideas, Images come to me and I feel my most creative.

Somehow this song makes the awkward motion of the elliptical feel cooler and smoother than it really looks.

“Lose Yourself” by Eminem
This song is a modern day classic. Eminem is a genius and the driving bass line and his emotion and lyrics push me to fight for my best moments working out. "Look, if you had one shot or one opportunity to seize everything you ever wanted in one moment would you capture it or just let it slip?" THAT'S what I'm talking about! That's what I want my head thinking when I need to get through that next rep with weights or that next minute on the treadmill.

“Step by Step (Tony Moran Radio Edit)” by Whitney Houston
I miss Whitney. I loved her from the first time I heard her voice and she has always been able to move my spirit. I like this one for its clear message that is so totally relatable to working out. It's a journey and we get to our goals one step at a time and there will be challenging days.
