Retail startup Acustom Apparel picked up the award for “Best Fashion Startup” at the fifth annual Fashion 2.0 awards Thursday evening, beating out e-commerce facilitator 72Lux, product ranking site Rank & Style, wearable technology company Wearable Experiments and e-commerce site Zady. Acustom Apparel, which opened its doors in lower Manhattan late last fall, offers male customers precisely tailored clothing using 3D measurement technology.
Nominees were selected by a panel assembled by “influencer marketing platform” Style Coalition, and winners were decided by popular vote. The awards ceremony, attended by around 400 industry members at the Merkin Concert Hall in Manhattan, has become something of “thing” for digital and social media enthusiasts, as most of the awards ceremonies in the industry, as we know, are for designers.
Designer Zac Posen delivered the keynote and TV personality Robert Verdi hosted the event. Both model Coco Rocha and Lucky editor in chief Eva Chen presented awards.
The biggest award winners were Marc Jacobs, who picked up awards for Best Instagram and Best Twitter, and Asos, which also picked up two awards, for Best Facebook and Top Innovator.
