Stefano Citron’s and Federico Piaggi’s Pre-Fall 2014 collection for Gianfranco Ferré will be their last. The two creative directors announced that they are leaving the label after two years of collections praised for their faithfulness to Ferré’s aesthetic and their elaborate tailoring.
The story broke in WWD Friday. Gianfranco Ferré nor its parent company, Dubai-based Paris Group, could be immediately reached for comment.
It’s not clear whether the pair have been pushed out by Ferré executives or if they left of their own free will — no statements from the designers were included in the announcement. (The same thing happened when Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi were let go as creative directors in 2011.)
No replacements have yet been named, and the label is not planning to show a Fall/Winter 2014 collection at Milan Fashion Week in February, WWD says.
