Of all the places one might rob in Rome, H&M may not seem like an obvious choice. Perhaps that is why it worked for one robber, who, dressed as a security guard, forced an H&M employee to fork over 60 thousand euros (about $83,000) at the store on Monday morning. The store, located on Rome’s popular Via del Corso, was opened less than two months ago.
H&M did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but did confirm the incident to WWD on Tuesday, noting that no one was injured and an investigation is underway. WWD says that the Zara store located on the same street was also robbed in October, though the story appears not to have been picked up by English-language press.
